Washington, D.C. March 9, 2012—In April 2012, the metropolitan community of Washington, D.C. will celebrate Turkic music and culture through a symphony orchestra and choral performance entitled “TURKSOY Presents: Symphony of Voices from Turkic Lands. “

Conducted by Professor Rengim Gökmen, “Symphony of Voices from Turkic Lands” will bring the sounds Ahmed Adnan Saygun’s masterful “Yunus Emre Oratorio” to life on the impressive stage of the Strathmore Music Center on Wednesday, April 25 at 8:00 pm.  The concert will feature the TURKSOY Symphony Orchestra, which is composed of 80 distinguished performers from several Turkic nations, and the New-York based Jonathan Griffith Singers. The hour-long performance affords audience members a rare opportunity to view multinational musicians on stage together.
